Pre Islamic Women
Arabian nomads allowed women many rights and women were often poets and tribe leaders.

The Qu'ran and Women
Enhanced rights and secured women's rights,
Forced husband to love their wives
Allowed women to start businesses and own property

Change
Foreign contracts were made and they took away many rights and made them wear veils in public. Women could not show their faces in public so that they could keep their loyalty to their husband and not attract other men.

The tradition of veiling came from other cultures and empires like Persia and Mesopotamia. Women in west Africa and Central Asia had more freedom than those in Persia and India.
