WHAT A FLOOD LOOKS LIKE

  • A flood is like a giant swimming pool throughout the land.
  • Sometimes floods can get higher than cars.
  • After a flood some walls get moldy.

WHAT CAUSES A FLOOD

  • The ground can't take in too much rain so it overflows.
  • When a dam breaks and that can couses a flood.
  • Rain or melted snow can make rivers overflow.
  • Hurricanes blow sea water onto the land.

HOW DOES A FLOOD AFFECT PEOPLE

  • The water sweeps people,cars,roads,bridges, and buildings away.
  • The water carries disease.
  • Floods can kill up to 3.5 million people.

WHAT CAN PEOPLE DO TO PROTECT THEMSELVS

  • People send clean water to the flooded areas.
  • Get to high ground.
  • Never drive on flooded roads.
  • Scientists use radars to predict a flood.
  • People send warnings of a flood.
