PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Fjords

BY Jordan Smith

a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs, as in Norway and Iceland, typically formed by submergence of a glaciated valley.

how are fjords made?

  • A glacier will slide along the rock
  • As it slides, it erodes the ground
  • This causes a valley-like area to form
  • The glacier leaves a path for seawater
  • The sea water fills the valley

What are they made of?

  • They are usually made of sill…
  • or shoal, also known as bedrock
  • Usually deeper than the surrounding sea
