Five ways to correct a run on

The Ways

• Period and a capital letter
• Comma conjunction
• ;
• ; conjunctive adverb ,
• Remove stuff out of the sentence then add a hot word

Examples

• Katie has a dog. Her name is Bella.
• Shelby likes ice cream, but she does not like chocolate ice cream.
• The storm destroyed many trees; we wanted to replace them.
• Sarah loves dogs; however, she has never owned one.
• Because we had 2 weeks off school, we have a lot of work to do.
