PILLAR ONE, SHAHADAH
A statement of faith
The people say "There is no god but God, and Muhammad is his prophet"
It must be said at once in their lifetime, as a statement of faith to Allah
The people also say it in their daily prayers
PILLAR TWO, SALAT
The Islamic people pray each day.
They pray 5 times each day.
They pray at sunrise, midday, evening, after sundown, and before bed
Each time, people are called to the mosque for an invite to pray
PILLAR THREE, ZAKAT
The Islamic people give to the poor every year.
People give some of their money to a religious offical.
The religious offical then gives it to the poor.
The money is used for paying debts or building mosques.
Mosques are places of worship
PILLAR FOUR, SAWM
The people fast during the month of Ramadan
The people cannot eat anything from dawn to sunset
Fasting reminds them of the struggle for food in the world
Fasting is to show that Allah is more important than the body
PILLAR FIVE, HAJJ
The Islamic people travel to Mecca at least once in their lifetime
This journey is called a Hajj
The people throw stones at a pillar, because it represents the devil
It is a religious journey, done by all islamists, and some africans
