KEY IDEA #1

  • The growth of inclusive education provides the same educational and social opportunities as non-disabled students.
From reading the article about inclusive education, it seems as though that any student, regardless of whether or not they may have a disability could benefit from an education that is more inclusive instead of separated. One of the five points that I discussed was regarding how inclusive education succeeds when students with disabilities and students without disabilities are given the same resources as each other. If all students are given the same kind of curriculum, they can all have equal opportunities to grow, which encourages other students to not feel left out or overlooked because of a disability that they may have. Though students with disabilities are still facing challenges with inclusion, there have been various reports of an increase in inclusive education in comparison to the numbers from the previous decade. Our world is not perfect, and there are thousands of things that we as human beings could do to improve our circumstances, no matter how big or how small. But starting with inclusive education could make all the difference, for a good education for any student is vital for their future. The article suggests that students without disabilities also improve from inclusive education, for teachers are creating lesson plans that incorporate different strategies and techniques that reach all sorts of learners. These teachers are broadening their horizons and doing away with the strict educational guidelines and expanding on new ways to reach every student, which creates better classroom environment for every student. As a future educator, I cannot wait to be a part of the change that is coming to the education system, for inclusive education is the way of the future, and my classroom will be ready to be a part of that change.
