THE LIFE OF A FIREFLIE

  • The firefly is an egg.
  • Then it is a larva.
  • In the soil blancet it is a pupa.
  • Then it is an adult fireflie.
  • That is a fireflies life cycle.

What fireflies need
Fireflies live in north America,south America,Africa,Europe,
Asia and Ausutralia.They drink nectar from plants.Fireflies eat slugs,snails and earthworms.
Fireflies live in warm tempeatures.Fireflies blink to show they taste bad and there poisons.


HOW FIREFLIES GROW AND DEVELOP

  • When a firefly is born it will hatch in three or four weeks.
  • Baby fireflies are called glowworms.
  • Baby fireflies eat and grow all summer long.
  • When fall comes they dig tunnels underground until spring.
  • They get the blanket from the soil.6 weeks later they become adult fireflies.

Features of a fireflies
There light is a warning to show they test bad and there poisons.Fireflies are beetles and beetles have two sets of wings.One pair helps them fly and the other pair protect the wings that help them fly.

Fireflies predators are frogs,spiders,birds and other fireflies.
