HYDROLOGY

HOW THEY SAVE WATER EVERYDAY

Let’s show off some fun facts

Did you know that 71 percent of Earths surface is made of water.

80 to a 100 gallons of water are used by humans everyday.

Out of that 80 to 100 gallons used, one litre is used for drinking

Pretty cool right?

Well not all water on earth is safe for humans

UNFORTUNATELY SOME OF THAT WATER

USED FOR DRINKING IS NOT ALWAYS CLEAN

HERE ARE SOME FACTS YOU DIDN’T KNOW

ABOUT DIRTY WATER ON OUR EARTH

FACTS ABOUT DIRTY WATER

  • 3.575 million people die each year from a water-related disease
  • 90 percent of wastewater in developing countries is discharged into rivers and streams without any treatment.
  • The Middle East is the world’s most “water-stressed” region, with Palestinians, especially in Gaza, suffering the most
  • More than 40 percent of child deaths are due to diarrhoea and acute respiratory infection

They are the whole point of this project being made

They are called

Hydrologists

Let me guess, a word you haven’t heard of before (it’s the title of this presentation)

Well in case you would like to know what a hydrologist is.

A hydrologist is someone who studies hydrology or the study of effects on water as a solid, liquid, or gas.

Now that you know what a hydrologist is, what do they do that cleans water and overall make it safe

Here are some duties of a hydrologist

DUTIES OF A HYDROLOGIST

  • Measure the properties of bodies of water. such as volume and stream flow
  • Collect water and soil samples to test certain properties, such as the pH or pollution levels
  • Analyze data on the environmental impacts of pollution, erosion, drought, and other problems
  • Prepare written reports and presentations of their findings

That’s a lot of stuff they do, but it helps study water and learn more everyday.

Now I know that some of you want a job to earn money.

In fact in 2018, a hydrologist can make as $66,000 a year

That’s a lot of money

But you will have to work your butt off in college in order to become one

Here are a few education requirements to become a hydrologist

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • While a bachelor’s degree is sufficient for some entry-level jobs, most hydrologists will need a graduate degree in the natural sciences
  • Classes in college you can take to be a hydrologist, include statistics, physical science, and computer and life sciences
  • Computer and digital mapping, data analysis are included as well.

It takes a lot of work to do, but in the end it will worth it.

To help people all over the world in drinking clean water.

And how they protect and clean water.

Here are some traits to help you in the field that could be useful

TRAITS THAT A HYDROLOGIST NEEDS

  • Critical thinking: Critical thinking is necessary when developing plans that respond to threats to the water supply
  • Writing skills: Writing well allows you to clearly present your findings to your professional peers, as well as to government officials and the public
  • Computer skills: You must know Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software for data extraction and reporting

With these skills, you can be the best hydrologist

Thank you for listening and taking time out of your day for me to inform about this job.
