Simile
The grassy terrain was as dry as my mouth after I had ran without drinking water around the town for a hour.

Personification
The vegetation ruined from the drought had begged for water and nutrients for ages but the unforgiving drought seemed like it would never give off any water.

Metaphor
The volcano suddenly jerked up exiting it's long deep slumber.

Hyperbole
The rocks from the landslide weighed more than every single professional sumo wrestler on top of me.

Symbolism
Yellow stands for violence and decay. The time after a drought causes violence between people and plants to decay.
