Alliteration
-noun
the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

For example, “She sells sea-shells down by the sea-shore” or “Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers” are both alliterative phrases.

-an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference.

-An hyperbole is an exaggeration which may be used for emphasis and humor. Hyperboles are used in speaking and writing for effect or to make a boring story more interesting.

-Idioms for kids are word combinations that kids use which have a different meaning than the literal meanings of each word.

-A metaphor is a word or phrase that is used to make a comparison between two people, things, animals, or places. They can be very helpful for kids who are learning the meaning of specific words because they provide a more visual description of the word or thought.

Onomatopoeia is word that mimics the sound of the object or action it refers to. When you pronounce a word, it will mimic its sound.

Personification
Personification is when you give human qualities to an object or animal. It is a literary tool that adds interest or understanding to a poem or story.

A simile is a figure of speech that compares two things or persons which are not similar. The simile is usually in a phrase that begins with "as" or "like."
