Metaphor

  • A metaphor is a comparison between two things.
  • Example: Her face got so green she looked like the grinch!

Similes
Similes are comparisions using the words, like or as.
Example: There was a black cat that looked like the night!

Idioms

  • A idiom is where you say something that isn't literal.
  • Example: You look so sick you are turning green!

Onomatopoeia
A onomatopoeia is an action word for something that is happening. Example:The shot was so loud you could hear the BAM!!!

Alliteration
Alliteration is the repition of an initial sound. Example: The silk was white like a light.

Personification

  • Personification is where a sound doesn't fit the object
  • Example: The tree said to the child, "Come, play with me."

Hyberbole

  • A hyberbole is where something makes a bigger deal than it is worth.
  • Example: I have told you a thousand times!
