Simile
A simile has like or as in it like her eyes were like diamonds.

Metaphor
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action like he plowed through his homework.

Metaphor

Idiom
A group of words established by usage as having a meaning like she could eat a horse.

Hyperbole
Exaggerated statements or claims that are not meant to be taken literally for Ex.His eyes popped out.

Onomatopoeia
Onomatopoeia is a sound Ex. Bam! or Splash!

Personification
Personification is comparing something to a quality only people can do like the wind howled in the night.

Alliteration
Alliteration is when words that start with the same sound are used close together in a phrase or sentence like Sally Sells Sea Shells On The Seashore.
