THERE are 4 main types of characters
- round - main character
- flat - minor character
- Dynamic - {gradually} changes by the end of the story
- static - doesn’t change much/at all

Clues or hints to what will happen later in the story
symbol: A concrete object used by the author to represent a certain idea
Theme: the moral of the story
unlocking theme
- was the main character static or dynamic?
- if dynamic, then what did they learn?
- skim for key phrases and sentences
- does the title have an important meaning that can lead you to the theme?
