How did geography affect the development of the Japanese civilizations?

The sea surrounding Japan's islands made it easy for people in ships to travel along the coast and from island to island.
Ocean transport was usually the easiest to get from one part of an island to another,even when a land route was a shorter distance.

Why did feudalism in Medieval Japan come to a end?

By 1500, all of Japan was caught up in civil war.

How did the social hierarchy of Feudal Japan look like?

Emperor- ruled Japan
Shogun- most powerful Japanese families
Daimyos- powerful military lords
Samurai- warriors
Farmers/peasants- regular town people
Artisans- craftsmen
Merchants- shopkeepers/traders…

What is the Tokugawa Shogunate?

In 1603, after Tokugawa Leyasu defeated his rival daimyo in battle, Ieyasu had the power to “invite” the emperor to name him shogun. So began the Tokugawa shogunate.
