Spring/Summer 2017 takes fashion back to the drawing board, re-defining a confident look with exaggerated lines, metallic effects, graphic prints on new-generation trenches and bright candy pink and sunshine yellow. With color and light as watchwords for the season, see the trends to look out for in 2017
Shocking pink
At the top of our list for the trends of the season is pink, as candy pink, baby pink, deep cherry and raspberry provide a sweet new way to see fashion through rose-tinted glasses.
Oversized shoulders
Square shoulders were particularly present this season, an exercise in style seen on strict, exaggerated suit jackets in a quest to create new forms of elegance and movement.
Sports parkas
Urban sports silhouettes were prevalent at Versace, Joseph and Stella McCartney, with dynamic lines and big volume on nylon parkas and parachute pleats, with street accents and plenty
Arty pop
From criss-cross stripes to in-your-face color, fashion has gone graphic for summer 2017. Think vibrant, geometric prints, as spotted on the knitwear at Proenza Schouler, the poppy pleats at Chloé and the Sonia Rykiel poncho.
Hide-and-seek cut-outs
At Dior, Lanvin and McQueen, designers showed once again the power of suggestion. Sheet textures left a little to the imagination and subtle cut-outs revealed a hint of what lay beneath in a hymn
