ALBERT EINSTEIN

  • developed the special and general theories of relativity and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect.
  • Founded the equation, E(energy)=M(mass)C(speed of light)2

NIKOLA TESLA

  • Invented the Tesla coil
  • The Tesla coil produced electricity by a rota spinning at enough speed so it could conduct electricity.
  • We still use his use of electricity waves today in cars, radios and television sets.

STEVEN HAWKING

  • theoretical physicist whose theory of exploding black holes drew upon both relativity theory and quantum mechanics. He also worked with space-time singularities.
  • he completely changed the way we think about black holes.
  • He was born exactly 300 years after Galileo died, and he passed away on Einstein's birthday.
  • In 1982 the Queen awarded him the title of CBE: Commander of the British Empire.

MARIE CURIE

  • She discovered the elements Polonium and radium
  • She died from radioactivity
  • Curie won the Nobel Prize in Physics for her research of radiation phenomena
  • her huge contribution to finding treatments for cancer.
  • she assisted over a million soldiers

NICOLAUS COPERNICUS

  • He had devoted his life to science, the church, and government
  • Nicolaus Copernicus was an astronomer who proposed a heliocentric system, that the planets orbit around the Sun
