FAMOUS MOUNTAINS IN CHINA

HUANGSHAN MOUNTAIN

• The area is well known for its scenery, sunsets, peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, Huangshan Pine trees, and views of the clouds from above.
• Originally known as Mt. Yishan it was renamed Mt. Huangshan in 747 AD in recognition of the legendary Huang Di, who was the reputed ancestor of the Chinese people and who made magic pills for immortality here.

EMEI MOUNTAIN

• The mountain is characterized by lofty ancient trees, impressive waterfalls, pristine brooks and numerous Buddhist temples.

TAISHAN MOUNTAIN

• The word tai in Chinese means stability and peace and the name Tai'an is attributed to the saying: "If Mount Tai is stable, so is the entire country" (both characters of Tai'an have an independent meaning of stability and peace).
• Mount Tai is crowned by Jade Emperor Peak (in Chinese mythology, the Jade Emperor is the most powerful god in heaven) with an altitude of 1,545 meters.
• The leader of the 'Five Sacred Mountains', Mt. Tai isMount Taishan located in the center of Shandong Province, lying across the cities of Tai'an, Jinan and Zibo.

HUASHAN MOUNTAIN

• is one of the five sacred Taoist mountains in China.
• is known as "the most precipitous mountain under heaven" and is probably the most dangerous mountain in the world frequented by hikers.
• There are five peaks that make up the mountain: Cloud Terrace Peak (North Peak, 1613m), Jade Maiden Peak (Middle Peak, 2042m), Sunrise Peak (East Peak, 2100m), Lotus Peak (West Peak, 2038m) and Landing Wild Goose Peak (South Peak, 2160m).
