~Culture~
Extended families are common in cultures where families are considered to be special and are cherished.
This specific type of family can consist of multiple generations All living under the same roof.
This is commonly seen in the U.S.

~Societal Issues~
Issues that are often discussed in American society involving extended family's include, but are not limited to:
Mal Treatment of children such as, Abuse, neglect, or overall child endangerment.
Income Is often an issue discussed due to the fact that with more people in a family it is harder to provide food, clothing, and other necessities.

DEMOGRAPHICS

~Economic Trends~

The effects of recession, property prices and the cost of care for old and young have combined to revive the practice of several generations living under the same roof, research suggests.
Almost 36 million people in Britain now have experience of living as adults in the same home as another generation of their family, the study estimates.
The extended family is making something of a comeback, thanks to delayed marriage, immigration and recession-induced job losses and foreclosures that have forced people to double-up under one roof.

~Additional Information~
Extended family's are starting to become really popular among today's people due to the economic changes that have taken place throughout the past few years. This family most typically occurs because some kids can't afford to live on their own with their kid and they move back in with their Mom and Dad.
