Why was the battle being fought?
Japanese invasion of the Philippines during world war 2. The capture of the islands gave Japan control of the southern west pacific.

What happened at the battle?
Japan took over the Philippines islands.

The outcome of the war
America defeated the Philippines with the invasion of the islands of Leyte in October 1944.
Douglass McAruther had promised to return his Philippines and he kept it true.
Lieutenant General Homma masharu was held responsible for the death march and it was a crime and he was executed by the firing squad.

THE EFFECTS OF THE BATTLE!

  • Many americans and Philippines died Of Abuse, Starvation and Being Shot to death.
  • The U.S and Fillipono forces later reclaim the Bataan Peninsula

75,000 troops were forced to participate in 65-mile march to prison camps .
The goal of the march was to have 2,000 captured.
The solders were given no water and Little food. The heat made it miserable for the march.

THE WALK LASTED UP TO FIVE DAYS

  • Thousands of troops were beaten to death
  • The strong people weren't allowed to help the weak people off of the road.
  • If men rested they were forced down on burning hot payment.
  • The men that fell behind were shot.

The Bataan death match was kept a secret
-Nobody found out until 3 years laters.
It was told by an American official that escaped from prison and he revealed the truth.
