Factoring QUADRATICS

No Description

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

FACTORING QUADRATICS

a > 1

1. TRY FINDING A GCF

AND THEN FACTOR USING THE DIAMOND METHOD

A is greater than 1, try finding a GCF

3 is the GCF

Now factor using the diamond method

Keep the GCF out in the "a" position

What if a>1 but there is no GCF??

2. Multiply (a)(c)

Multiply (8)(3) and use the answer in your diamond method

The answer goes in the top and the middle number is still in the bottom

Factor as usual

The 8 that was multiplied in has to be factored out

Place the 8 over your factors

Type your fractions in the calculator without the "x". (Remember use Alpha & y= buttons). Then hit Enter

Reduce the fractions. These are your factors for factored form

YOU DID IT!

NOW FOR MORE PRACTICE.
