  • Exponent- The number of times you multiply the base by itself.
  • Equivalent- Is equal to

Any number with a zero exponent is equivalent to 1.

Example:
8^0=1

Negative Exponent

  • If a number had a negative exponent you would place the number in the denominator over 1 and make the exponent positive.

Example:
2^-3=1/2^3
