Exponent rules

Zero Exponent rule

Any number to the zero power equals 1

Why?
When written out as a fraction, you cancel out the numerator and the denominator, turning them into ones, whenever a number is over a 1 in a fraction, it automatically equals 1.

Negative Exponents

When a number has a negative exponent, turn it into a fraction with a numerator of 1 and a denominator of whatever your base number is, which is going to have the same exponent as before, only positive.

product of powers

IF MULTIPLYING NUMBERS WITH THE SAME BASE ADD THE EXPONENTS
