well as with any robot, there is a certain amount of programming that tells the robot how to perform certain tasks, but the robot could also be controlled remotely, like NASA’S rover Curiosity.

Many exploratory robots have two types of cameras. Ones that stay stationary on the rover, and ones that can move freely on the base of the robot.

An advantage could be that the robots could explore locations that may be perilous to humans.
A con could be that if it breaks, it would be difficult to repair if no humans are around.
