Ethical Dilemma: Euthanasia

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

What is euthanasia and why is it so controversial?
***
1. Euthanasia is the killing of a patient by a doctor to relieve suffering
2. Differing opinions on death, the right to die, and death with dignity often cause arguments about who has control over death and who has the right to voluntarily end their life

EUTHANASIA IS GOOD BECAUSE...

  • It relieves pain
  • It offers a patient some control over his or her treatment
  • It can bring closure to patients in a vegetative state

EUTHANASIA IS BAD BECAUSE....

  • It may become abused if it is legalized
  • Patients who might've survived could choose to be euthanized
  • Euthanasia is against God because he has power over death

It is my personal opinion that euthanasia is ethical in certain situations and should be legal. Control over one's life is a basic human right, and I think control over death is equally important.
