  • Scientific name: Eryngium Cuneifolium
  • Perennial herb
  • Grows in stretches of white sand
  • A member of the carrot family

Where are they found?
-in Lake Wales, FL (only 8 are protected)

Niche:
-Florida scrub
-needs fire because it exposes the soil seed bank for germination
-lichen and moss on the ground inhibit germination
-grows in sandy, dry areas
- rosemary gives off allopathic chemicals which inhibit germination

Efforts to save them:
-8 are on protected land, the Lake Wales Wildlife Area
-because their scrub ecosystem is being destroyed, there is little hope for their survival
-they do not germinate on their own because of this
