About Mr. Carle
- Born June 25,1929
- From Syracuse, New York
- Moved to Germany with his parents when he was six years old.
- He graduated from the prestigious art school, Akademie der bildenden Künste, in Stuttgart.
Becoming a Writer
- His first break through which truly began his career struck when Bill Martin Jr. a renowned author and educator asked him to illustrate a story after noticing an illustration of a red lobster Carle created for an advertisement.

- Great Friend to Kids Awards, Association of Children’s Museums, Pittsburgh, PA, 2013.
- Silver Medal from the City of Milano, Italy, 1989.
- The NEA Foundation Award for Outstanding Service to Public Education, 2007.
