STEVEN SPIELBERG

  • Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18th 1946
  • Only son of Arnold spielberg and Leah Adler.
  • Moved frequently as a child, but settled down in Scottsdale Arizona
  • When his parents divorced, he moved with his dad to california
  • Applied to University of Southern California twice and was denied.

  • Gained California acceptance to California State University, Long Beach
  • Became an unpaid intern at Universal Studios
  • Became a guest to Universal's editting department
  • Would create his first film that would have a theatrical release, Amblin.
  • Accepted a major directors deal with universal studios, beginning his hollywood career

in 1971 Spielberg created his television film called Duel which was highly praised and overall set off his career.

Around the 1980's he encountered many directing opportunities would would lead to the creation of the Indiana jones sage and the Jurassic park films.

FORMATION OF DREAMWORKS SKG:

In 1994 Steven Spielberg, along with Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen formed DreamWorks SKG. The first film released under the DreamWorks name was The Peacemaker (1997) , which George Clooney starred in.

The people at DreamWorks believe that all families should be able to dream and laugh together.

DreamWorks Mission statement:

They are devoted to producing high-quality family entertainment through the use of computer-generated (CG) animation. With world-class creative talent and technological capabilities, their goal is to release two CG animated feature films a year that delivers great stories, breathtaking visual imagery, and a sensibility that appeals to both children and adults

Struggles and successes regarding DreamWorks:
DreamWorks laid off close to 350 people by the end of 2012, and decreased its movie output to just two films a year. But in recent news DreamWorks is planned to lay off close to 500 more people in late 2015. Th company has also been offered by two separate companies to be bought out, but both deals have fallen through. Though this is all true, DreamWorks recently has gotten the attention of many more viewers with the How to Train Your Dragon series. Spielberg who originally founded DreamWorks, says, "I've always been very hopeful which I guess isn't strange coming from me. I don't wan to call myself an optimist. I want to say that I've always been full of hope. I've never lost that

Five day tracking of DreamWorks Animation SKG inc. on NASDAQ:

In the past five days (2-2-15 through 2-6-15) has went up from as low as $18.33 per share on the first day, to $19.87 on the last day. The days between February second and February sixth the amount per share managed to stay above $18.73 and $19.38 per share.

DreamWorks as of 2014 has close to 2,000 employees, and is based in Glendale, California in the United States. As of now DreamWorks does not have physical shops, but however do process an online store for official DreamWork Merchandise.

:Philosophy's, programs, and environmental stances of DreamWorks:
DreamWorks animation believes that one should work in an unparalleled working environment, which consists of water fountains, koi ponds, walking paths, and ping pong tables, which the company believes will inspire DreamWorkers to innovate, and create. DreamWorks Animation also does extent charity work, with their website even saying its “In DreamWorks DNA”. DreamWorkers give countless of hours to giving back whether it be a company wide effort, or it simply being a non-profit organization. DreamWorks has formed teams to help with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Triathlon, as well as supported the pediatric patients and their families at St. Jude.

An interesting fact about DreamWorks:

Many people think that DreamWorks Animation and DreamWorks Studio are one, but in the fall of 2004, the animation division of the studio was spun-off into a publicly traded company.
