LAYOUT TECHNICIAN

WHAT IS IT?

• Visit and label telephone poles
• Telephone poles that are bad get replaced
• Covers areas from Altoona to Martinsburg
• Design how wires will run to houses

BASIC DAY

• After arriving to work, you must find which pools to replace
• This is done on a software program showing each pole
• Next you drive to each pole after getting the gps directions
• By typing in the number, the gps takes you directly to the pole location
• Then you must take a picture of the pole, label it with spray paint

CONTINUED...

• you must then go to thee next pole
• repeating the process for every pole

RETIREMENT

• age + years of service = 85
• must total 85 to retire

SALARY

• salary is 90% during 1st year
• build up takes place over 3 years
• after 3rd year you make 100%

SICK AND VACATION

• sick days=30
• vacation days=15
• sick days carry over

COLLEGE

• no mandatory requirement
• however, majoring in engineering is good
