EMPANADA

PUERTO RICAN/ MEXICAN FOOD

  • My favorite Puerto Rican food is an empanada but there are other foods.
  • Mofongo it is a soup including vegtables and grains and spices.
  • Arroz con gandules a special rice dish.
  • ASopao a soup normally made with rice and chicken

THE DOUGH

  • FIrst you mix together 3 cups of flour 1 tbs of baking soda 2 tbs of sugar
  • And pinch of salt then mix in half a cup of lard to strength en the dough
  • Then add 1 egg and 3/4 cups of chicken stock
  • Mix in with the flour mix
  • Cover and refridgerate for thirty mins

FILLING

  • In a nonstick skillet cook at medium heat 1 tbs of vegtable oil and 1 pound groud beef
  • Add one tbs of garlic salt to the beef cook till completely brown then drain the
  • Liquids . In the same pan add 1 tbs of oil, 2tbs of tomato paste, 2tbs of vinegar
  • 2 tsp of cumin, oregano, seasoned salt 1 tsp if both , 5 garlic cloves
  • Green bell pepper 1 , and 1 onion

DOUGH AND FILLING TOGETHER

  • Lightly flower a pan then roll out dough on pan.
  • Cut 4 in half circles in the pan then put the filling inside .
  • Fry the empanadas in a deep fryer for six to seven minutes at 350 degrees f
  • For the sauce mix together mayonaise ,adobo sauce, and lime juice
  • To add flavor.
