RA On Call - What You Need To Know
Two per cluster- RA 1 & RA 2 (different roles)
Shifts begin and end at 4:00 PM each day
Carry cell phones throughout shift and respond to calls
Conduct rounds between 8:30-12:30/9:30-1:30 nightly; adhere to curfew and 10 min radius during day

RA On Call Responsibilities
Be ready at 4 PM with S@B shirt on, master keys in hand, review Duty Log
Answer phone when called, notify RDOC for major concerns
Conduct 3 rounds, interact with students and confront policy violations
Document concerns in incident reports and Duty Log, sign DL at end of shift

Responding to Emergencies
DO NOT respond alone if you're uncomfortable!
Consult RD on Call (24/7) or Summer Office (M-F, 8-4) for assistance
After consulting and responding, fill out an incident report form (link forthcoming) and add to Duty Log if you are RAOC

Responsibilities In Crisis
GET HELP!
Ensure physical and emotional safety of all involved (you too!)
Gather information, support students, assist when help arrives.
Act calmly and professionally.
Obtain support for yourself if needed.

Missing Students
Curfew: 10 PM (SPARK, Sports Camps) OR 11 PM (Pre-College)
IF student is 1-29 MINUTES LATE, make note but DO NOT CALL RDOC
IF 30 minutes late, call RDOC
RDOC will call AOC after 60 mins, DPS initiates Missing Persons protocol

Medical Emergency
RAs contact EMS (863-4111) IMMEDIATELY, then notify RDOC
RAOC accompanies student to hospital (RD if alcohol/drugs)
RDOC notifies AOC/Natalie via phone if serious, e-mail if not; notifies parents

Alcohol & Drug Concerns
If student visibly intoxicated or you suspect they are, call RDOC and EMS immediately
RDOC will respond, go to hospital
If breaking up party, ask for IDs and names, have DPS confiscate, then break up the party
AOC notifies Natalie, parents, etc.

Psychological Emergency
Call EMS, RDOC immediately.
AOC/RDOC calls CAPS, may set up psychological consult.
RAOC may be needed to help out/debrief CAPS staff if necessary.

Assault (Sexual and Physical)
Call RDOC immediately, stay with student until they arrive.
If sexual assault, student should avoid bathing until after AOC/parent notified.
AOC will work with RDOC, Director to support student
If trauma, call EMS - Natalie/AOC and CAPS will go to hospital, NOT RA
13.
Racial Harassment and Bias Incidents
DO NOT assume RDs, others aware- be supportive and encourage reporting to DPS
Instances involving graffiti, other physical acts should be documented (take a pic w/ RA phone), THEN covered by Facilities
Call DPS in case of incidents involving graffiti, texts,etc., then call RDOC

Excessive Noise and Disruption
Speak directly with students involved- if you feel uncomfortable or witness property damage, call DPS
Notify RDOC if you call DPS and fill out incident report.

Bullying
If student feels threatened/unsafe, call DPS & RDOC.
If no immediate danger, consult RDOC immediately.
