Definition - galaxies that appear elliptical in shape

Elliptical galaxies are made up of mostly old stars. They come in many sizes and are built by collisions of smaller galaxies.

FUN FACTS

  • Range from circular to extremely elliptical
  • Have almost no discernable structure
  • Not supported by rotation (unlike spiral galaxies)
