PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CARBON

  • We need carbon to live ,grow, and reproduce
  • It forms networks with covalent bonds and phosphorus

HYDROGEN

  • Makes up 75% of the universe's elemental mass
  • Hydrogen can combine with oxygen and can react and release energy
  • Its molecules can combine to form hydrogen peroxide
  • It can be generated from natural gas

OXYGEN

  • Without it we die
  • One of the most important elements rewuired to sustain life
  • It can mix with hydrogen amd form water
  • We get oxygen from plants and water
  • Plants exhale oxygen throughout sunlight

NITROGEN

  • Important because most proteins are made of it
  • Without it, we would lack cells or of bone tissues
  • It can mix with the atmosphere and form ammonium
  • Its inside everything especially fertile soil
  • Principal component of earths atmosphere

CALCIUM

  • Almost every cell im our body uses calcium
  • It can combine with vitamin D to prevent calcium deficiency
  • You can get it from milk

PHOSPHORUS

  • Its a key component in the backbone of the DNA and RNA.
  • Its part of the nitrogen family.
  • We can phosphorus from seeds like pumpkins

POTASSIUM

  • Its important for cells, tissues and organs in the human body
  • It combines with hydroxide and combine with water to produce potassium
  • We can get it from bananas, black beans, baked potato

SULFUR

  • Its a minor consitituent of fats, body fluids and minerals
  • Its formed by sulfur in the air and is used as bleach agent
  • Its found in large deep underground deposits

IRON

  • Its important in hemoglobin and red blood cells
  • It mixes with sulfur and has both properties mixed togeteher
  • We can get it from red meat, egg yolks and dried fruit

COPPER

  • Its important for metabolism
  • Combines with many minerals like chalocite
  • We can find it in the keweenaw peninsula in michigan
