  • The background material about the characters, setting, and general conflict
  • The introduction of the story

  • The environment in which the story takes place

RISING ACTION

  • The part of the story, including the exposition, in which the tension rises
  • This build to the climax

  • When the action comes to it's highest point
  • Most dramatic or suspenseful part of the story

  • Sharp decline in the dramatic tension
