R.A. DICKEY

CHALLENGING CHILDHOOD

• When R.A. was five years old his parents got divorced.
• And after that he lived with his mom who had drug problems.
• Then he ran away from his mom
• Then he ran away from his dad because he had no support

OFF TO SPORTS ACADEMY

• He went to an academy call MBA.
• He was super excited to get in MBA.
• All of his friends went there.
• He played baseball and football.
• He stuck with baseball because he hurt his arm playing football.

MAKING THE DREAM

• R.A. made it into the MLB.
• It was his life long dream.
• He ended up playing with the METS.
• He won the National League Cy Young award in 2012.
• He was the first knuckle baller to win the award.

R.A. DICKEY

• The whole story was based around him.
• It talked about his tough times in his life.
• It talk about awesome things in life like winning the CyYoung award.
• And his way into the majors.
• I think he was a hard worker because he battled through hard times.

R.A.'S MOTHER

• She was an alcoholic.
• She played softball.
• She worked at a bar and stayed there all night.
• She did not spend a lot of time with him.
• She seemed lonely.

SETTING

• He didn't really settle in places ; he moved around a lot.
• He was born and grew up in Nashville,Tennessee .
• He went to University of Tennessee .
• He played for a lot of minor league teams.
• Then he played at Citi field in New York.

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY !!

• I am happy for him because he made the mlb.
• I am also happy for him because he battled through his tough life.

ANXIETY

• R.A goes through a bunch of tough times
• He is kind of growing up by himself
• Because his mother or father never took care of him
