El Salvador is the smallest country in Central America. Its compared to the size of New Jersey. El Salvador is located in Central America.
The Chorotega people from central Mexico migrated to what is now El Salvador in 3000 BC. El Salvador declares independence from Spain in 1821.
The majority of Salvadorans are mestizo. Fútbol (soccer) is the most popular sport in El Salvador. Kids make there own toys out of sticks, tin cans, stones, and pieces of cloth.

The religion is mainly Roman Catholic.The most common food made is Pupusas, which are cornmeal cakes or thick tortillas filled with meat, beans, and cheese and other assortments.

Head of government and head of state is Salvador Sánchez Cerén. El Salvador is a Republic, which means that citizens elect a president and a legislature to represent in the government.
