Some Brief Egypt History :
The Nile is a river that runs through Africa. About 22% of The Nile is in Egypt. It is on the banks if The Nile where one of the oldest civilizations began. (Beginning at approximately 7000BC)

SOME FACTS :

  • Egypt is located in Northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea
  • The Capital city of Egypt is Cairo.
  • About 82 million people live in Egypt today.

  • 3000BC - The first Chew Stick was made
  • 3000BC - First ox-drawn plow
  • 3000BC - Papyrus was used to make writing material

Writing :
The Ancient Egyptians created the first type of paper. It was made of papyrus plants. This is important to us today because writing is a form of communication, and that form of communication can share important information.

Telling Time :
Egyptians had multiple ways of telling time. The water clock and the sundial are two examples. The water clock is similar to a sand-filled hourglass, and the sundial tells the approximate time based on shadows. This is important to us because the conception of time keeps people organized. Without it people would probably be lazier.

Agriculture :
At around 3000BC, the Ancient Egyptians invented the first ox-drawn plow. This is important to us today because getting/growing food is difficult by hand, and we need food in order to surive.

Simple Machines :
Egyptians created simple machines (such as levers, pulleys, ramps, etc.)
They used them to help with building pyramids, and various other projects. Simple machines are important to us today because simple machines are used in lots of simple and complex things. A door knob for example.

Hygiene :
Since their bread had a lot of sand and grit in it, the Egyptians had lots of dental problems. They made the chew stick (similar to the dog chew stick) to try and fix the problems. This is important to us today because if you aren't clean you can get fatal diseases and you might smell bad.
