POWERS AND KINDS OF EGYPTIAN AMULETS

THEY ALL REPRESENT SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Paragraph 2&3: There are many different amulets and they all have different meanings and powers. Egyptians believe the shape and colour often has a huge effect on the amulet. Firstly, an Ankh is known as a cross with a handle, it represents eternal life. The eye of Horus symbolizes protection, staying healthy and power. A Scarab is a bug that had a huge role in Egypt, it effected the civilization. Some other amulets are Hematite, which was worn to bring more courage when fighting in the battlefield. The unicorn amulet was meant to detect poisons in food or drinks. It also pieces the plans of enemies. As well there is a moon stone, which was used when wanting to see into the future, you were supposed to put it in your mouth when there was a full moon. The general colour they used for amulets were red, green, blue, yellow, black, and white. Every amulet had a different power.

They placed the "eye of Horus" on the body to remove the soul during the mummification process. Every amulet has a spell that needs to be recited from the "book of the dead" before placing it on the body. Some of the amulets contain herbs and scented oils, but amulets were not just used on the body. People would use peace amulets because they believed it would end conflict and bring peace to those around them. It also helped with fears like flying on planes. That said amulets are used for many things in Egyptians everyday life.

Amulets are also worn when you wear charm bracelets, each charm was created because of amulets. Many people also wear crosses which kind of represent the Ankh except it doesn't have a handle. People that do rituals or ceremonies to other people may even use amulets with that procedure. Amulets are used for learning, you can do research on the. And learn a lot about them. There are so many ways that amulets are still used today and those are some of the ways.

There are lots of things to know about Egyptian amulets. Firstly, many medicines and pills involved amulets. Secondly many people thought that when you wore an amulet, you would get magical powers. As well, an amulet was placed on the body where it's power would have the most effect. Lastly, there is seven categories to amulets, gods/goddesses, sacred animals, protection, artifact for living, for powers, of assimilation, possession, for offerings,and symbolism of materials.
