EGYPT AND THE EXODUS 11-14 (CLEAR RED BEAD)
LITERAL SENSE
- Author- We are not for certain on who wrote Exodus 11-14, but it is believed to be Moses who had written it.
- Written between: 1440 and 1400 B.C.
LITERAL SENSE
Historical events:1. The Israelites were kept in slavery by the Egyptians. 2. People celebrate Passover because of this.
LITERAL SENSE
Cultural Events: 1. The bread without yeast (matzah.) 2. Circumcision of males. 3. The song of Deboroh and the song of Miriah.
Ordinace- A law of many rules set forth by God for the Israelites to follow. Passover- The Jewish feast day celebrating how God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
ALLEGORICAL SENSE
- 3 occurrences of the theme
- -Jesus's crucifixion
- -Noah's Arc and the flood
- -When the Jews were freed from the Roman Empire.
ALLEGORICAL SENSE
- Jesus is the lamb of God.
- The slaughtering of the lambs represents the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to free us from our sin.
ALLEGORICAL SENSE
Theme: Moses asks Ramsee's to set his people free, and god punishes Ramsee's.
MORAL SENSE
The Lord told Moses to help the people and to guide them to safety so they do not wrongfully suffer. The Lord did this because he does not want the people who do not deserve to suffer to have suffer wrongfully.
MORAL SENSE
This could be applied to a modern Christian in that we need to be able to help those in suffering and to help only those who have earned their help through God.
ANAGOGICAL SENSE
We could use this passage to show us how we can help those in need or in harms way but yet still help those who don't deserve it. Everyone deserves to be forgiven.
