Hi everyone. This is Ms. Borgen from the Prep Library, and today I'll talk about some tips for effectively researching your NHD paper.

What Do I Need?

To effectively research a topic, there are a few simple things you need before you begin.

1. An Essential Question

aka "Thesis Statement"
A good essential question is the key to your success in this project.

2. Effective Search Terms

aka "Keywords"
Once you've established a resonably solid essential/thesis question, it's time to start searching! For this you need keywords, which are the words you use when you're searching.

What do I do with my research?
Lastly, none of the wonderful resources you find are any good without some kind of organization before you write your paper. In class this week we'll go over using EasyBib to cite your sources as well as take notes. If you want to get a jump ahead, feel free to go to the EasyBib section of the Prep Library website.
