What is diction?

Diction is the choice and use of words in speech and writing.

Types of diction

There are two types of diction: High and low

High Diction

the use of formal language (very formal)

Example

I say! I do think I fancy a salad and crisps for supper today!

Low Diction

The use of informal language

Example

Avast, thar! i reckon I be needin' a salad 'n fries fer a meal this day!
