  • Ebola was first noticed in 1976 in Yambuku in the Ebola river basin
  • Several Outbreaks in West, Central and East Africa since 1976
  • Ebola is considered to have an animal reservoir, most likely bats
  • Human beings will be infected by direct contact with infected patients 
  • To hunt or eat "bush meat" may contribute to outbreaks of Ebola

Symptoms of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever

  • Fever (>38.6°C / 101.5°F) 
  • Severe Headache
  • Muscle Pain
  • Weakness

Symptoms of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever

  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal (Stomach) Pain
  • Lack of appetite

Other Symptoms of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever

  • Rash
  • Red Eyes
  • Hiccups
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat

OTHER SYMPTOMS OF EBOLA HEMORRHAGIC FEVER

  • Chest Pain
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Difficulty Swallowing
  • Unexplained Bleeding Inside and Outside of the body

Incubation Period

  • The incubation is 2 to 21 days after exposure to ebolavirus
  • 8 - 10 days is most common
