COUNTRIES IN EAST AFRICA
There are 7 countries in East Africa
The countries are:
Tanzania
Kenya
Ethiopia
Uganda
Burundi
Rwanda
Somalia

Climate
The climate of East Africa is a hot and dry climate. There is mostly a savanna type landscape here, which includes dry dirt and brittle grass. Tanzania also has a Plains in the north and steppe in the south.

NATURAL RESOURCES
Coal
Natural gas
Oil
Tin
Uranium
Lead
Diamonds
Tar sand

ECONOMY
Kenya relies on cash crop farming, subsistence, and their wildlife parks to forward the economy
Tanzania’s government owns most of the companies there and they hold a lot of power
Ethiopia also relies on subsistence farming to further their economy
Ethiopia’s economy has struggled to grow in recent years because of the ongoing drought
Ethiopia is the world’s poorest country
Somalia’s economy is based on farming and livestock
Djibouti’s economy deals mostly with trade

IMPORTANT WATERS IN EAST AFRICA
The Gulf of Aden of helped traders get to Djibouti
Saw the great waters of the Zambezi river
Ventured over the Jordan
Hiked past the chain of lakes that included Lake Victoria, Rukwa, and Rudolph
Victoria Falls also reside in east Africa and it’s a natural beauty

LANDFORMS OF EAST AFRICA
The Great Rift Valley was created by two tectonics plates moving apart, and has helped form Victoria Falls and the Zambezi river
The Ethiopian Highlands are great for hiking and help build great distance runners
Mount Kilimanjaro is the most exciting landform in East Africa and the view from the top is amazing
The Chalbi Desert is the hottest and most bare part of the country

FUN ACTIVITIES
Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro
Going on a savanna in Ethiopia
Rafting the Zambezi river
Camping on the Serengeti
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to hike and see gorillas
Windsurfing in Le Morne Brabant

TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES
It was hard to see villages of people with less the what we had
We had to get shots to avoid diseases that were spread by flies
We tried to share as much food as we could while exploring the wilderness
It was hard to find shelters on the Savannas, we had to fend for ourselves
Water was scare out on the Savannas, we had to use our resources

SIGHTS NOT TO MISS
Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where you can see the endangered mountain gorilla, and it’s Africa’s oldest National Park
Zanzibar beach in Tanzania, to see the crystal clear water
Watamu,Kenya to relax on the beach
Labelia, Ethiopia to see some historic buildings
Ngorongoro Conservation Area, because of the crater
