NIGHT AND DAY?
The Earth's rotation on its axis is responsible for the days and nights

4.
SEASONS?
Seasons are caused by the Earth's axis tilting toward or away from the sun as it goes around in orbit.

5.
WHY ARE SEASONS OPPOSITE IN THE HEMISPHERES?
The seasons are caused by the Earth's tilt.
So because the earth is tilted one hemisphere is getting
more direct sunlight than the other.

6.
SUMMER DAYS LONGER THAN WINTER?
Due to the tilt of the axis the sun hits the earth in different
ways. The closer you are to the north or south poles, the
longer days or nights you are going to have.

7.
CHANGES IN THE SUN'S POSITION
This is caused by Earth orbiting the sun in a continuous
path while the earth is rotating

8.
WHY DOES THE MOON GO THROUGH PHASES?
As it orbits around the earth, different directions of
light fall on it everyday throughout the year.

9.
WHAT CAUSES THE TIDES?
Tides are caused by the gravitational
pull between Earth and the moon.

SIDEREAL DAY AND SOLAR DAY
Sidereal days are roughly 4 min. shorter than a Solar day.
The earth moves a bit less than a degree around its orbit during
the course of one day, so after a complete rotation it has to rotate
an extra degree to bring the sun back into the same apparent position.

SIDEREAL AND SYNODIC PERIODS
Sidereal periods are relative
to the stars. Synodic periods are measured by the
relation of an object to two other points.
