Summary
Scientists all over the world are racing to develop a vaccine to protect people from COVID-19. There are currently 70 vaccines being developed globally. However, it’s expected to take more than a year before a vaccine is widely available.

When and where did the article/story take place.

  • This event is still happening, because scientists are still looking for a cure to COVID-19.
  • This event is happening all over the world

What is the author’s purpose for writing this?

  • The author’s purpose to write this article was to explain/describe
  • I could tell that the author was trying to explain/describe because they did not give an opinion and it was explaining how long it was estimated to take before a vaccine is available world wide.

Why is this newsworthy?

  • Other people should care about this topic because COVID-19 is a pandemic, or worldwide issue. It has affected thousands, most likely millions of people.
  • Almost every child, if not all children have converted to E-learning or some other form of home learning. Many adults have tepararealy lost their jobs or have begun working at home.
  • If a vaccine was created to cure COVID-19 then people would be able to go back to school/work, instead of doing things from home.
  • This would help many people because they would be able to have gatherings, meetings, play dates, and other meetups that are currently forbidden. Many people will be happier when we are allowed to see other people again.

Why did you choose this topic to write about?

  • I chose this topic because I am tired of sitting at home.
  • I miss my friends, teachers, and extended family.
  • And I am interested in the making of vaccines.
