  • Have feathers that provide insulation
  • Legs and feet have scales to minimize heat loss
  • At reserves serve as insulation for the body

  • Fluff their feathers to provide additional insulation
  • Tuck a foot or their bill in their feathers
  • Gather in large packs in small, tight spaces and share body heat
  • Stand in the sun
  • Shivering
