Muscular dystrophy is caused by defects in a persons genes

SYMPTOMS

  • Loss of mobility
  • Fatigue
  • Learning difficulties

There is no known cure for duchenne muscular dystrophy , however drugs can be taken to slow the loss of muscle strength

According to CDC, in 2007, 349 out of 2.37 million males aged 5-24 had either Duchene or Becker muscular dystrophy in the US

The upper arms and legs are usually affected first but the brain, throat,heart chest muscles, stomach, intestines, and spine can also be affected
