DRUGS & THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BRAIN

I WILL NOT DO DRUGS

  • Drugs can mess up my priorities.
  • I can disapoint my family.
  • It can stop me from achieving my goals.
  • Drugs can stop me from finishing school.
  • Drugs can ruin my future goals.

Drugs can interfere with the neurotransmitter because they pretend to be the neurotransmitters. This can be bad because they block off the receptors. And when the receptors are blocked off they can make the brain loose memory and mood.

Parts of the brain that can be impacted by drugs are the pre-frontal cortex, it's the stop and think part of the Brain. The Motor cortex, that is the movement. The Sensory cortex, this section controls sensations. The Parietal lobe, that controls perceptions, making sense of the world, arithmetic and spelling. Occipital lobe, this is the vision. The Temporal lobe, this controls the memory, understanding, and language.

The cerebellum, it regulates balance, coordination and the muscles used when speaking. The Limbic system is the emotional center of the brain. The Amygdala is responsible for emotion. And the Hippocampus, it makes it possible to remember new information.
