PRESENTATION OUTLINE

1.) LAYERING

  • Street makeup is applied in or under 5 layers or steps
  • It consists of a simple base and added coloring
  • Stage makeup has at least 7 steps

APPLICATION/REMOVAL

  • Stage makeup requires a large array of contouring brushes and sponges
  • These cannot mix or be used for more than one purpose because of smearing
  • Street makeup can easily be applied with a finger and removed with a makeup wipe or soap
  • Stage makeup requires makeup remover, sponges, soap, washcloths, and other products
  • The process of application and later removal is also twice as long for stage makeup

CONSISTENCY

  • Stage makeup consistency is much thicker
  • This allows it to set and resist removal by common sweat and oil leakage
  • Street makeup allows for pores to breathe, leaning towards lighter coverage
  • It has an airy nature, not covering completely in the first try but just enough to lift away flaws

TEXTURE

  • Street makeup has a lighter texture, smoothing into the skin
  • Stage makeup has a heavier texture, resting on top of the skin

INTENSIFICATION OF COLORS

  • Street makeup is more subdued
  • It is meant to be an enhancer, a light touch
  • Stage makeup is darker and more vibrant
  • It is meant to show up all the way to the back row
