  • Musical theatre became popular in the 1600s & 1700s
  • First forms of musical theatre was ballad operas and comic operas
  • First became popular in Britain, Germany and France
  • Musical theatre began to take the form we see today in 1915

  • First rock musical was hair in the 1960's

  • A mega musical is am almost fully sung-through musical drama
  • The first ever mega-musical was called "The Elves" in 1857.
