THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SPEECH The famous "I Have A Dream" speech was a huge milestone in history. "But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination." Martin says. That means that by law we are free but society treated us like we were nothing. "This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" said Martin speaking from his heart. These words weren't only heard all over the country but they were from his heart and an inspiration to the whole nation.
